History of Boston 7s

Since 1985, Boston Women’s Rugby has hosted the largest women’s rugby sevens tournament in the country.  The summer tournament is renowned on the east coast for its mix of fierce competition amongst many of the country's top-ranked teams and chaotic fun - teams are strongly encouraged to play in costume.  In 2015, the tournament was opened to men's teams as well.

Each year is marked by a unique theme, from "Superheroes and Villains" to "Battle of the Ages," with teams wearing their spirit as they play.  Our tournament participants are as varied as our themes; we have competitive, social, and college brackets, as well as high school matches.  

While we historically played this tournament on Cape Cod, the tournament returned to Boston from the Cape in 2016. Thank you to all the teams, coaches, sponsors and spectators that helped to make our tournament a success!
